The Elegant Beauty Clinic Guide to Facial Fillers

There are lots of different types of ‘fillers’, varying in ingredients, results and processes. The fillers most commonly used on the face and lips are called dermal fillers, which can be used for many purposes.

As we age, the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid within our skin decreases and this causes the sagging of tissue as the skin becomes more fragile. Most dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid as a key ingredient, which is highly moisturising and works to revitalise, plump and enhance facial features.

Dermal fillers can be used to fill wrinkles, add volume to the cheeks and lips, shape the chin, eliminate lines and folds around the mouth and neck, and also reduce eye bags and hollowness.

Which injectables do we use?

We are proud to have such an experienced, fully trained and certified professional as Shikha.

Shikha is skilled in administering dermal fillers and has been trained to use a variety of different injectables. At Elegant Beauty Clinic we use premium brands such as the JUVÉDERM range, which comprises a number of different filler products tailored for different parts of the face.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

Unlike some clinics, the majority of fillers that we use at Elegant Beauty Clinic contain a local anaesthetic, which helps to make the treatment more comfortable. Regardless of this, we will also always use a numbing cream to ensure minimal discomfort.

The needle used to administer dermal fillers is ultra fine, which further minimises any discomfort. During treatment there may be a slight stinging sensation, but this will subside almost instantly.

This procedure will usually take between 30 and 40 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Although there may be some very slight swelling following treatment, this will usually only last for up to 24 hours- and is rarely noticeable.

There is little to no downtime required after dermal fillers, so you can get back to normal life straight away! We will always provide you with aftercare advice to ensure your treatment experience post-filler is safe and stress-free.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Fillers are not permanent, and how long they last can depend on where the filler has been administered, the type of filler used and also different results from patient to patient. Medically safe and approved dermal fillers by a fully trained and qualified aesthetics practitioner will generally last between 6 and 18 months.

The results from our Juvéderm Ultra range last around 6 months, while the Juvéderm Vycross range will last around 12 to 24 months.

Dermal fillers can also be reversed if you change your mind, and this is achieved through the injection of an enzyme called hyaluronidase which dissolves the filler. It is very important to note that medically trained and certified practitioners will always provide this reversal service if necessary, which is why it is vital to only book with qualified aestheticians like ourselves.

What types of facial filler are there?

Dermal fillers can be used in various areas of the face to achieve different objectives. From the more common lip fillers, to nasolabial folds and tear trough treatments.

Lip fillers

lip enhancement can be achieved through 0.5ml or 1ml of filler from our Juvèderm and premium Juvèderm Vycross ranges. The filler can be used to plump, voluminise and reshape the lips. We will always carry out a full consultation with you to ensure we understand exactly what look you desire. At Elegant we pride ourselves on natural looking results so our aim is for the finished result to simply be your lips, but even more beautiful than before!

Cheek fillers

The hyaluronic acid within dermal filler is your ticket to stunning, lifted and volumised cheeks that make your skin look plumped and healthy. We offer cheek shaping with 1ml of filler from either our Juvèderm or premium Juvèderm Vycross range.

Jawline fillers

A subtle jawline reshaping can truly transform and define the face. Dermal filler can be used to sculpt and add structure to the jaw, jowl and chin areas, counteracting the appearance of a weak jawline. For this treatment we use 1ml of filler from our premium Juvèderm Vycross range.

Chin filler

Dermal fillers are very effective in enhancing chin shape, whether the objective is volume, definition or balance. If you are looking to balance out your facial proportions, the chin is generally a great place to look. The chin helps to sculpt and define overall face shape and compliment the jawline. We use 1ml from our premium Juvèderm Vycross range for this treatment.

Nasolabial folds

Nasolabial folds, or nose-to-mouth lines, become more pronounced with age as the skin loses elasticity. These lines are also deepened for those who smile a lot or have a ‘big smile’.

We would never tell you to stop smiling, so nose-to-mouth dermal fillers are a great alternative! Filler in this area plumps and restores volume in the skin, and softens the appearance of lines. This treatment can be administered through 1ml of filler from our Juvèderm or premium Juvèderm Vycross ranges.

Tear troughs

Tear trough filler will wake up and anti-age your under eye area with no need for surgery! For this treatment we use our premium Juvèderm Vycross range to eliminate dark under-eye hollows, folds and wrinkles. This dermal filler treatment knocks years off the face and rids the appearance of tiredness.

Marionette Lines

‘Marionette lines’ are the lines that develop between the mouth and chin as skin begins to age and lose elasticity. The area around the mouth has to move a lot in day-to-day life, which is why dermal fillers are a great way to combat signs of the ageing process. We offer this service through 1ml of filler from our Juvèderm or premium Juvèderm Vycross ranges.
